CHILDREN’S GROUP WORKSHOPS 

INRODUCTION TO AFRICAN AND AFRO-CARIBBEAN HAND PERCUSSION

    Participants will play, chant, move and sing in this group workshop which offers:
        *Background on African and Afro-Caribbean percussion with an emphasis on conga              
          drums
        *Basic conga and percussion techniques
        *Selected traditional rhythms of the African Diaspora

    (Instruments will be provided and participants are encouraged to bring their own.)


AFRICAN SHEKERE AND MIXED HAND PERCUSSION

    Participants will learn the basics of the shekere, guiro, shakers, tambourine, maracas, claves,      
    cowbell, cascaras, and cabasa.

   (Instruments will be provided and participants are encouraged to bring their own.)
